Powerful (and Free!) New Cybersecurity Resource for Public Housing Agencies
The housing industry continues to be an attractive target for cybercriminals, who can do real damage to your agency in a matter of minutes. Fortunately, there are organizations like the Center for Internet Security (CIS), whose singular goal is to help you keep your IT systems and data secure.
HAI Group’s security team recommends that you join the Multi-State Information Sharing and Analysis Center (MS-ISAC), a CIS program, which has been designated by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security as the key cybersecurity resource for protection, prevention, response, and recovery for state, local, tribal, and territorial government entities.
“CIS is an industry leader in cybersecurity,” said Mike Konopka, a senior IT security analyst with HAI Group. “I encourage our members to access MS-ISAC’s resources, especially those they can get for free, including cybersecurity alerts, the MS-ISAC toolkit, and the Malicious Domain Blocking and Reporting (MDBR) service, which prevents IT systems from connecting to malicious web domains.”
The MDBR service can actually block the vast majority of ransomware attacks just by preventing the initial outreach to a ransomware delivery domain, he noted.
